About the Eden Project

The Eden Project is a global garden, educational charity and social enterprise all in one.

In a beautiful and symbolic transformation, we’ve turned what was once a barren landscape into our striking contemporary Outdoor Gardens, covering 24 acres. Our Outdoor Gardens are home to over 20 plant-based exhibits, colourful seasonal borders, art installations and play areas.

Take a world tour. Two massive covered Biomes transport you to the tropics and Mediterranean regions. Trek through verdant rainforests, meet tropical crops, meander through the Mediterranean and South Africa, visit citrus groves, meet ancient olive trees and savour the scents of wild herbs and flowers.

Dig deeper to discover how we transformed this site from a former clay pit, find out about our organic techniques and unique collection of economic plants and learn more about our new technology and nature-based initiatives to grow sustainably, conserve biodiversity and tackle climate change head on.

Eden is a feast for the senses and can be experienced in so many different ways, whether you’re looking for calming immersion in nature or a fun packed day of adventure and family fun.

Each time you visit, you help us work in the UK and internationally on transformative projects in the fields of education, community, and ecology.

FAQ’s

How do I get to Eden?

You can get to Eden by foot, bike, train, bus or car. Visiting Eden by foot, bike, train or bus qualifies you for our green travel incentive. Once you’re here, we have bike racks and luggage lockers for you to use.

Just outside St Austell on the south coast of mid Cornwall, Eden is well signposted from the A30 from Exeter and the A391/390 from Plymouth. If you’re coming from outside Cornwall, take the M5 southbound to Exeter, where the motorway splits. Take the A30 and exit at the Innis Downs junction (A391), then take the signs for Eden.

There is ample free visitor parking at Eden. From the car parks, you can either walk down to the visitor entrance and ticket desks or take a free park and ride bus (operating during peak times).

Visitors are welcome to park motorhomes or campervans in the car park, and we can accommodate these in our coach park if they are oversized.

We also have electric vehicle charging points in the Banana Car Park.

Do I have to book ahead to visit?

Get the best value tickets by booking online! Save money by pre-booking entry to Eden online rather than buying tickets at the Visitor Centre. All* visitors to Eden are strongly encouraged to pre-book a time slot in advance of each visit, including Passholders and those who can visit for free.

*Eden Project Members (and their guests) do not need to pre-book timed entry, and are guaranteed admission before last entry.

What about Access, will I be able to get around the site ok?

The Eden Project aims to provide a great experience for all ages, abilities and backgrounds. We work hard to make our site as accessible as possible for everyone. There is accessible parking spaces and toilets on site and we offer free entry for carers or personal assistants. Manual and powered wheelchairs available for free.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs can enjoy miles of outdoor paths at Eden, but are not allowed in children’s play areas, the Biomes or other undercover areas, apart from the Visitor Centre (including the ticketing hall and shop) and the Core. Please note, dogs are not allowed in the Core Gallery exhibition space on the top floor of the Core.

Please bear in mind that most visitors want to explore our indoor Biomes, so if you have a dog with you this might restrict your visit. Some groups of people who visit with their dog take it in turns to look after their pet while the others explore the Biomes.

  • Dedicated dog waste bins.
  • Water for dogs.
  • Undercover dining area for dogs on the terrace outside the Eden Kitchen café.
  • There is a network of bridle paths and trails running past our car parks that are ideal for walking your dog.

Is there much for children to do?

Kids of all ages find a day out at Eden fun and thought-provoking. On their Eden adventure, they’ll connect with nature in new and surprising ways, from walking through rainforest clouds to clambering in our massive Minibeast Mansion, and they’ll gain inspiration and practical tips on how to look after our beautiful planet.

Also nestled in our Outdoor Gardens is Nature’s Playground, our spectacular adventure play area, brimming with imaginative, sensory play.

I only want to visit the Eden Project once, do I have to book an Annual Pass?

Yes, our General Admission tickets are also Annual Passes. This allows us to treat your admission fee as a donation to our charity and give you unlimited access to the Eden Project for a year, even if you are only planning to visit once.

Throughout the year, we occasionally launch limited-time day ticket promotions but we can’t guarantee any availability for when you’re planning to visit. Check our Book tickets webpage for information about any offers we are running at the moment.

Please see our Memberships and Locals’ Passes (valid for residents of Cornwall and Devon) as other forms of admission that offer you even better value to visit Eden.

When purchasing a General Admission ticket, please consider ticking the Gift Aid box at checkout as you could increase your donation to our charity by 25% at no extra cost for you. Find out more about Gift Aid.
