NATIONAL TRUST GARDENS

ANTHONY

Antony

A varied garden, set in a Repton landscape overlooking the Lynher estuary, featuring sculpture, the national collection of day lilies and a knot garden. The Woodland Garden (not National Trust) contains 300 varieties of camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons, azaleas and indigenous and exotic trees.

Open: House and garden 1 April - 30 October Tues, Wed, Thurs & Bank Hol. Mons, plus Suns in June, July & August 1.30-5.30.

Woodland Garden 1 March - 30 October daily except Mon & Fri, but open Bank Hols. 11-5.30 (free to National Trust members when Antony House is open).


TRELISSICK

Trelissick

The garden has glorious views over the Fal estuary, and an abundance of rhododendrons, hydrangeas and camellias with sweeping parkland and year round woodland walks.

Open: Garden 15 February-2 November daily 10.30-5.30.
3 November-23. December Thurs-Sun 11-4.
27-31 December daily 11-4. 2 January-13. February 2004 Thurs-Sun 11-4. Park & woods open all year daily.


LANHYDROCK

Lanhydrock

In the Fowey Valley, formal Victorian gardens around the great house contrast with the woodland garden, famed for magnolias, on the hillside behind.

Open: All year round, daily. 10-6 or dusk.
Open formally 15 February — 2 November.


COTEHELE

Cotehele

All-year-round colour and interest in formal and natural settings. A historic garden to be explored, a medieval dovecote and stewpond, meadow, orchard and ornamental tower.

Open: All year round, daily 10.30-dusk.


GLENDURGAN

Glendurgan

A steep and sheltered sub-tropical valley garden on the Helford river, with display of trees, rare shrubs and wild flowers. Children love the famous laurel maze and the Giant’s Stride.

Open: 15 February - 1 November daily
except Sun & Mon 10.30-5.30.

Last admission 4.30. Closed Good Friday
but open Bank Holiday Mondays.


TRENGWAINTON

Trengwainton

Tender and exotic trees and shrubs flourish in this sheltered and virtually frost-free garden. Also unique walled gardens with sloping beds, stream and pond gardens, and terrace with fine views across Mount’s Bay to the Lizard.

Open: 16 February — 2 November Sun to Thurs
(& Good Fri) 10-5.30. Closes at 5 in February, March, October & November.
