What’s On at Trewithen Gardens: Summer 2025

One of the Great Gardens of Cornwall, Trewithen is known for its calm, creative atmosphere and deep connection with the seasons. This summer, the garden plays host to a series of inspiring workshops and events that invite you to slow down, learn something new, and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. Whether you’re a keen gardener, budding creative, or looking for quality time with the family, there’s something special coming up at Trewithen.

6th July: Cyanotype Printing Workshop

Join local artist Judith Tutin for a hands-on introduction to cyanotype printing – one of the earliest forms of photography. Taking place in the gardens, you’ll forage for seasonal foliage, arrange your own compositions, and create striking Prussian-blue prints to take home. All materials are included, along with garden entry and refreshments from The Tea Shed café.

25th July: Planting Design Workshop – Within the Garden Walls

Step into Trewithen’s historic Walled Garden for a practical, design-focused session led by members of the garden team. With insights into the space’s recent transformation, you’ll gain valuable tips on bed layout, plant selection, and creating year-round colour using the principle of right plant, right place. There’s also a chance to gather cut flowers and create a posy to take home.

8th August: Creative Writing Workshop

Take your writing into the wild with this day-long workshop led by author and tutor Amy Lamorna Ireland. With inspiration drawn from Trewithen’s peaceful paths and rich history, you’ll enjoy guided writing prompts, mentorship, and time to reflect and write in nature. Includes a Writer’s Welcome Kit, all materials, and a delicious lunch from The Tea Shed.

A fantastic family-friendly workshop that introduces children (and grown-ups!) to the magic of growing your own food. Explore Trewithen’s new allotment, learn about fruit and veg care through the seasons, and pot up your own plant to take home. You’ll also pick your own produce and head home with a goody bag of freshly harvested treats.

10th September: Harvest at Trewithen – Tips from the Allotment

Celebrate the late summer harvest season with practical advice and behind-the-scenes insights from Trewithen’s kitchen garden team. Explore techniques for bed design, planting layout, and organic weed and pest control – plus enjoy a demonstration in traditional onion braiding.
